This year, many influencers and celebrities passed away. Their legacy and words of wisdom will continue to change how we live our lives and see the world around us. Thank you to those who worked for our nation, gave us joy from their music, gifted us with their designs and products, made our childhoods filled with laughter and guided us to be who we are today.

Stan Lee (1922-2018)

The whole underlying principle of the X-Men was to try to be an anti-bigotry story to show there’s good in every person.”

George H.W. (1924-2018) & Barbara Bush (1925-2018)

“I have climbed perhaps the highest mountain in the world, but even that cannot hold a candle to being Barbara’s husband.”

Mac Miller (1992-2018)

“They’re gonna try to tell you no, shatter all your dreams. But you gotta get up, and go and think of better things.”

Aretha Franklin (1942-2018)

“We all require and want respect, man or woman, black or white. It’s our basic human right.”

Kate Spade (1962-2018)

“I hope that people remember me not just as a good businesswoman but as a great friend – and a heck of a lot of fun.”

John McCain (1936-2018)

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but the capacity to act despite our fears.”

Tim Bergling “Avicii” (1989-2018)

“I have always been mainstream. It’s so weird, because I don’t see it as something negative at all. So many people see it as something negative.”

Anthony Bourdain (1957-2018)

Your body is not a temple, it’s an amusement park. Enjoy the ride.”

Stephen Hawking (1942-2018)

We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special.”

Mark Salling (1982-2018)

“Doing good for the community is something that should be a part of who you are. The more you get, the more you should give back.”

Paul Allen (1953-2018)

“In my experience, each failure contains the seeds of your next success– if you are willing to learn from it.”

William Franklin Graham Jr. (1918-2018)

“Billy Graham that the world saw on television or saw on the big screen was the same Billy Graham that we saw at home. He wasn’t two people.

Stephen Hillenburg (1961-2018)

“What could be better than serving up smiles?”

Verne Troyer (1969-2018)

“There’s a lot of little people who think they can’t do certain things, but like I say, if you put your mind to it, you can do things that average people do, just in a different way.”
