The 2019 MLB Postseason has been nothing but exciting so far. No matchup has been boring in the Wild Card games or Divisional Series. Some teams have struggled to get their bats going in the playoffs, but luckily enough every match has been filled with pitching battles or great games by the hitters throughout the MLB.

The Wild Card games were not the best for the everyday baseball fan, but the start of October baseball is something to be excited for. The Brewers faced off against the Nationals in the National League Wild Card game, with the Nationals ending up on top with momentum heading to Los Angeles to play the Dodgers. In the American League, the Rays played the A’s, taking home an easy win in a 5-1 performance.

In the National League, no Divisional Series game ended in a sweep. These back and forth battles have been great to watch with an expectation of a great game daily, and nothing but satisfaction in return.

The series between the Washington Nationals and LA Dodgers after four games is split at 2-2. Each game has ended in the opposite team taking the win. This series has been outstanding for the hitters on both teams, with late game clutch hits on both rosters.

In the series of the St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves, it hasn’t been much of a hitter’s series. All games have been pretty low scoring, with great pitching matchups on both sides. It has not been overly exciting after four games, but any time a series goes to the last game, the energy will be electric.

The American League Divisional Series has been more lopsided than the games in the other league. The Astros, after three games, are up 2-1 to the Wild Card Rays. The offensive ends of both teams haven’t been the best, but the talent of the pitching staff on the teams are nothing below great, especially the starting pitchers for the Houston Astros.

Gerrit Cole had an outstanding pitching performance in Game 2 of the ALDS. His eight inning stint was great for the Astros, as they didn’t really wake up their bats at all that game.

For the series between the Yankees and Twins, it has been quite lopsided the entire way. The Minnesota Twins had early hits in both Game 1 and 2, forcing the Yankees to perform and get clutch hits late game to break open the score. This injury-filled New York roster has been stepping up in these opportunities taking the ‘next man up’ process into action.

With local talent and Shaker High School graduate Tommy Kahnle on the mound for the Bronx Bombers, it gives Capital Region baseball fans something to enjoy beyond just their in-state Yankees doing well. Kahnle had a 1.50 ERA (Earned Run Average) in the ALDS versus the Twins, which is quite impressive. The New York Yankees are the only team in the Divisional Series games to sweep their opponents in straight games.

There is plenty more of playoff baseball to come and so many more memorable moments that will go down as some of the wildest in baseball history.
