College looks to sell student housing property

The Board of Trustees voted to sell the HyRosenblum Administration building property for student housing earlier this week in an effort to accelerate the project further.

“It may be more desirable to interested parties or developers and may it may move at a quicker pace than the approach we were taking prior,” said Dennis Kennedy, director of maketing and communications.

In order to go forward with the plan, the college must seek approval from Rensselaer County and SUNY.

Omni Housing Development, who previously planned to lease the property from the college is expected to examine the next request for proposals.

Kennedy said, the college’s involvement in the project moving forward has not yet been determined.

Earlier this month, the college announced the first phase of student housing to be moved to 2017. The first phase of the project was initially planned to start this month.
