Course Sequence for Political Science Students

Hudson Valley will now be offering a Political Science sequence for students who are interested in courses on such a track.

The required core courses include Introduction to Political Science, Introduction to Political Theory, Introduction to International Politics, and American National Government, with electives such as State & Local Government, Terrorism, Honors Seminar, and Internships in Politics and Government.

Hudson Valley has offered the internship course to provide students with the opportunity for experience in careers in government and politics. Internships range from working with campaigns for local politicians to interning with the New York State Legislature.

The new sequence is not designed to lead to an Associate’s degree in political science. The program is instead designed to give students a background in political studies, the likes of which have transferred to schools including Cornell University, Northeastern University, SUNY Binghamton, SUNY New Paltz, Siena College, and others.

For more information about the sequence, contact the History, Philosophy and Social Science Department Chairperson, Dr. Peter Sawyer, at (518) 629-7690 or p.sawyer@hvcc.edu.
