An event to support  the football team will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 3 in the McDonough Sports Complex as they head to the school’s first bowl game in over ten years.

The Vikings finished the regular season 8-1, which makes this one of the best seasons in the school’s history. They will play 4th ranked Hutchinson Community College in Kansas on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 12:30 p.m.

A viewing party will be held during the game in the BTC auditorium and meeting rooms

“We are excited to be a part of the Salt City Bowl and to play one of the top teams in the nation. We had a great season, but it didn’t end how we wanted it to with our last regular season game. We have another chance to redeem ourselves and we are excited about the opportunity,” head coach Mike Muehling said about the bowl bid.

Pizza and drinks will be served as the team’s success is celebrated. President Drew Matonak will speak along with Athletic Director Kristan Pelletier and Head Football Coach Mike Muehling.

Players from the Vikings will be introduced at the send-off celebration at 12:15.

The teams success this season was based around a strong defense and a balanced offense. They gave up under 16 points a game and were ranked in the top ten nationally in time of possession.

Between an efficient passing game from quarterback Rafael Hidalgo and the productive running back duo of Tyler Gagnon and Elijah Udoh, the Vikings offense posted nearly 350 yards of offense per game.

The defense was led by Kelvin Medler, who had a team high 75 tackles, and Ashton Mackenzie, who posted 11 sacks on the season.
