Warm and dry days bring dust kicking up with every step on Hudson Valley’s football field, and wet days bring a muddy playing surface. On the heels of a historic season, Vikings football may score a big offseason win that will add to the program’s momentum.

$1.75 million was included in the Governor’s executive budget proposal to build a new complex that the athletic department has already raised over $1.3 million for.

“I can confirm that the funding is in the amount of $1.75 million dollars in the budget that was released. The final budget is approved in April and we will await the final decision,” said Kristan Pelletier, Hudson Valley athletic director.

“Typically, capital projects flow fairly well through the state legislature,” said Hudson Valley President Drew Matonak.

The plan for the complex includes a synthetic turf playing surface that can be used for football, soccer, and lacrosse. A 400-meter eight-lane track surrounds the football field. Sports lighting at the complex will allow for night events.

New grandstands and bleachers, a concession building, and a new scoreboard are also included in the plan. Next to the turf field, there will also be a natural grass field.
