It has been 40 years since Laurie Strode was able to escape the clutches of the killer, Michael Myers in the fateful movie “Halloween”.

Although Michael was in a mental hospital, Laurie had been preparing for his possible escape.

Her worst fears are realized when Michael escapes in a failed transport to another hospital. Laurie must now protect herself and her family and see if years of preparation will finally pay off.

As Michael Myers terrorizes the people of Haddonfield, Illinois again, he slowly works towards achieving his end goal, by finishing what he started long ago.

The obvious stars of the movie are Michael Myers and Laurie Strode, but the supporting cast also does a good job in adding tense moments, stakes and laughs to the story.

Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode, in what is going to be a favorite in the “Halloween” movie franchise.

The movie itself was very well-directed and it invoked the many types of horror strategies and clichés that were placed in the original.

Unlike previous films in the franchise, and most modern horror movies today, “Halloween” added a good amount of humor to it. It cracked hilarious jokes and one-liners, even during the most suspenseful of scenes. None of the jokes fell flat, but what was even better were the scares, brutal kills and the slow methodical tactics of Michael Myers.

He is relentlessly vicious throughout the film which sent shivers down the spine. Michael kills without remorse and mercy, leaving his victims in states that are terrifying for viewers to watch.

What’s worse, is how he goes about to do it.  Michael donned his iconic mask, which showed him to be emotionless as he goes about the killings.

As a viewer, what captivated me was how evil he truly was. All you saw was the blank stare and heavy breathing from underneath his mask. The movie does a great job of capturing the evil behind Michael, taking careful steps to dive inside his psyche in all of his scenes. This was the most enjoyable part of the film, because you go to a horror movie to be scared and the movie delivered just that.

Besides Michael, Laurie Strode is an amazing character in the movie. Contrary to previous movies in the series, Laurie is a complete warrior and proves to be more than qualified to take care of herself.

The movie was everything that it advertised itself to be. It was entertaining and gave horror fans everything they anticipated.

The acting in this movie was great and the pace always kept you on the edge of your seat.

The only criticism that I really have for this movie is that it didn’t take the characters and story in a new and exciting direction. It is hard for a horror movie to create an interesting and complex story, but just like most horror movies, it had a predictable plot.

Despite this, “Halloween” was an enjoyable film and well-deserving of a sequel.
