Mike Super’s Magic Returns to Campus

Magician Mike Super returned to Hudson Valley for another performance on Aug. 26.
The beginning of the show included the crowd singing and clapping to “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey.
“Hudson Valley Community College is one of my favorite venues. It is always like coming home to perform here, especially after 12 appearances,” said Mike Super.
Super combined magic, illusions and comedy to entertain those in attendance.
For his performance, Super chose a member of the audience to assist him with a voodoo trick. The person he selected from the audience was Robert Robinson, a student at Hudson Valley. Robinson stated that he did not believe in voodoo before the show but left as a believer.
Super stuck a pin in the voodoo doll, causing Robinson to scream and jump out of his seat.
“No, I had never met Mike before this show and Mike never touched my hands,” said Robinson.
Super later used a piece of paper to create an origami rose. He then proceeded to take a lighter to the paper rose and a real red rose appeared in its place.
“Even as an amateur magician, I can’t figure out how Mike does most of his tricks,” said Professor Joel Glickman.
Towards the end of his performance Super pulled out a black die and turned his back to the audience. He threw the die into the audience with instructions for the first recipient to do the same until three people had touched the die.
All three participated in a murder mystery. The last person was brought on stage and assisted Super with unveiling a “present” for the entire audience.
Super guessed three things regarding the mystery that he had written on a piece of paper before the act had started.
Christopher Carroll, whose brother is a student at Hudson Valley, was the last one to touch the die. According to Carroll, he had never met Super before the show and was excited to have participated.
