Red Front Restaurant Fronts Best Capital Region Pizza

By Samantha Simmons, Broadcast Editor

Red Front pizza in Clifton Park is a small store front with a big heart in what they produce; with a menu ranging from appetizers to entrees, there is something for everyone on the menu.

My friends and I tried their famous COB pizza. A COB pizza is a cheese on-bottom, sauce on top style pizza, sort of like a tomato pie, but a bit sweeter and served hot. I also tried the classic cheese pizza. Through the grapevine, I had heard they had the best cheese pizza in the area.

I arrived for a 6:30 pick-up. All went smoothly. On the doors were signs with numbers to text and instructions on what to write in order for your pizza to be brought right out to your car and placed in your car. It’s crazy to consider how times have changed with all the contactless pick-ups.

I got a 24-cut split half COB, half cheese. I had never had either pizza but was pleasantly surprised with both of them. I tried the COB style first fully ready to be let down with an odd layout. Right in the first bite I knew that this was by far the best pizza I had ever had. It did not taste like a pizza but was somehow even better. The sweet sauce on top and the soft gooey cheese on the bottom was delicious. Even better the next day!

As for the cheese, it was a great pizza. The crust was cooked to perfection and not burnt. The cheese, with a slight tint of brown and some bubbles in the dough was made to be enjoyed by friends on a Friday night.

If you’re looking to order, there is also a location in Downtown Troy with a sit-down option for more of an upscale feel.
