Every year HVCC offers courses throughout the summer, which will begin May 20, May 28, or July 1 this year, depending on the length and subject of the class.

Some of the courses are held for twelve weeks and some that are held for six weeks, five weeks, or three weeks.

The first session of three week classes will begin on May 20 and end on June 7. Also starting the same day is the first session of six week classes, which ends on June 28, and the twelve week session, ending on Aug. 9.

The registration for summer 2013 courses has begun. Students can register for courses in person or over the phone, but it is recommended that students speak with an advisor first.

Courses are not only offered on campus, but some are available at the Albany Extension Center on 175 Central Avenue in Albany and at TEC-SMART in Malta. Some courses are also offered online.

There are courses being held in subjects including English, Criminal Justice, Economics, Psychology, Biology, etc. In total, there are over 500 courses being offered this summer.

By offering courses online, on campus, and at other locations, HVCC aims to help students get an education that is convenient and affordable.

Ann Plourde, one of the professors teaching summer courses, said, “Personally I know that a lot of time and effort has gone into creating these courses to not only meet or exceed the learning objectives, but meet the students’ needs as well.”

Mark Pascale, an advisor for Continuing Education, Summer Sessions, and Workforce Development, said, “Summer is a great opportunity to get caught up or ahead in a short period of time. We make the registration simple and easy.”

Even non-matriculated students can take summer courses at HVCC. Pascale said, “A tremendous number of students coming home for the summer from all over are registering for our courses.”

Registration is available right up until courses begin. For more information, or to set up an appointment with an adviser, call (518) 629-7338.
