After a seven year wait, Justin Timberlake has released his third album, “The 20/20 Experience.”

It’s easy to fall victim to the charm of the songs. The album features 12 songs averaging about seven minutes.

Timberlake’s smooth songs engage the listener and make it easy to listen to the full song without feeling the track is dragging on.

In an age when everything is so on the go, the album has a way of slowing the world down and allowing the listener to focus on the music for the 80 minutes it goes on.

Timberlake’s career had shifted from music to acting after his last album “FutureSex/LoveSongs” released in 2006.

Timberlake has been in many movies, such as “Alpha Dogs” and “The Social Network,” in his musical absence, as well as appearing on “Saturday Night Live” many times.

In an interview with “Rolling Stone,” Justin Timberlake responded on why now, after so many years away from music and in acting, he decided to switch back to music.

“For me, when I do have something that I’m ready to express, I’m gonna burrow through whatever to get it heard. But for me, the journey along the way is really the most fun part. It’s not about the outcome. It’s really about making something that feels authentic. That’s the one place you can do that,” Timberlake said.

Timberlake’s new album features songs that listeners could expect from his last album, songs that have a futuristic sound with some R&B thrown in the mix.

Songs such as “Spaceship Coupe” and “Let the Groove In” mirror the sounds of songs from the artist’s last album, “FutureSex/LoveSongs.”

Other songs, like “That Girl” and “Mirrors,” leave most of the futuristic sounds behind and focus on a soulful R&B sound that has the potential to make listeners melt.

In Timberlake’s interview with “Rolling Stone,” he also commented on how the album fits together.

“It’s not so much a narrative or a story, but sonically we really made it to listen from top to bottom,” he said.

Justin’s first single from the album is “Suit & Tie,” featuring Jay-Z. It almost undermines the energy the entire album reflects. While the single fits in with the rest of the album, the spirit the rest of the album has is greatly missed by first glance to the single.

Overall, Justin’s new album will please die hard Timberlake fans and will also attract some new fans. The mixture of songs that use pop’s fad of futuristic sounds to old school R&B soul make “The 20/20 Experience” worth spending on.
