Hudson Valley has recently signed new transfer agreements with Alfred State College and SUNY Canton, allowing students who meet certain requirements to transfer and work towards bachelor’s degrees in business administration and dental hygiene.

“[Hudson Valley] is really putting an effort for [its] students to go to a four year college and be able to transfer and get a bachelor’s degree. We’re really trying to give students a four year foundation [here],” said Bryant.
“We have more than 350 transfer agreements with [schools such as] UAlbany, Saint Rose, Siena College and Rochester Institute of Technology,” said Eric Bryant, Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing.
Alfred’s agreement allows Hudson Valley students who have received an associate’s degree in applied science, arts or occupational studies to transfer and earn a bachelor’s degree.
Students who transfer to Alfred State will work to receive a bachelor’s degree in business administration. The courses for this degree can be taken either online or on campus.
Transfer students at Alfred State will focus on the development of business and management skills with a focus on technology applications.
It also provides students with skills to run a small or medium sized business along with managing departments and divisions.
“I think a lot of students will take advantage of this opportunity. It will help people who work full time get their Bachelor’s degree,” said Nick Karpovich, liberal arts major.
In order to transfer, students must obtain an associate’s degree and finish with an overall GPA of at least 2.0. They also need at least 60 credits that will transfer towards their bachelor’s degree.
Hudson Valley will also offer transfer opportunities with SUNY Canton for students to earn a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene.
Requirements for SUNY Canton’s program include an Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene and a minimum GPA of 2.0.
These courses are only available online and students must complete a 240 hour internship that cannot be at a place of employment.
“I’m not too fond of online classes, so I probably won’t transfer to that program after Hudson Valley,” said Jess Baumgartner, dental hygiene major.
“I feel that dental hygiene is hands on. You need to [practice] physically,” said Candace Vergare, a dental hygiene major. “For this major, online classes are not appropriate.”
