If you are looking for a quick meal on the run or for somewhere to sit and enjoy something fresh and inexpensive, Greenhouse Chopped Salad Company is the place to go.

From the moment you walk up to the place, you feel as though you are in the tropics because of the welcoming exterior. Once you enter, you feel at home as the staff greets you before the door has even closed.

The kiwi green along the walls with beautiful Caribbean red and yellow light fixtures and pictures of fresh fruits and vegetables sent my mind to the Antigua beach.

When I awoke from my daydream I found my way to the menu boards. These are extremely easy to find and have large print. Each selection was thoroughly laid out with ingredients underneath and every meal had a suggested dressing option.

The selections give you the choice to either have the meal in a salad form or in a wrap. Prices vary from salad to wrap but the items do not exceed eight dollars without tax and there is a considerably large selection.

From their signature Cobb, to the Chinatown or Greek salad, the place is filled with variety and character. I was the early bird when I reviewed the restaurant but I could tell that by lunchtime the fresh eatery would be bursting at the seams with hungry customers.

If you don’t find their selections appealing or there is just a certain salad you have been craving all day, Greenhouse Salad makes your order fresh and right in front of you.

With a vast number of dressings from their news standards to their ten assorted vinaigrettes, you may question what this company can’t do.

After pondering the wonderfully crafted selections from the menu board I decided to try the house special, Summertime Blues salad.

This salad consisted of your choice of lettuce, dried cranberries, chicken, feta cheese, sliced almonds, oranges, sliced green apples, sunflower seeds, green grapes, two large pita chips, and, to top it all off, raspberry vinaigrette.

I was so entranced by the burst of fruity euphoria that I had to take a minute to savor the fresh pungency. This salad must be relished with each bite.

My fiancé went the with the Montana Steak wrap. This consisted of romaine lettuce, grilled sirloin, grilled portobello mushrooms, tomatoes, fried onions, and crumbled blue cheese.

The recommended dressing for the Montana Steak salad or wrap is the blue cheese dressing. The wrap had a pleasurable taste and definitely made me ask for a second bite.

The sirloin was cooked to perfection and invited the blue cheese dressing to soak within as the sirloin warmed the other ingredients inside of the wrap. I recommend the selection to all the red meat eaters out there.

You cannot go wrong with a salad bar and Greenhouse Salad Company really takes the cake in the chopped salad industry.

I’ve been to my fair share of salad companies but this one is without a doubt in my top five. Greenhouse Salad is located at 50 North Pearl Street in Albany.
