The Hudson Valley Vikings football team has now dropped its fourth straight game against East Coast Prep Academy. It has been a rough start for the Vikings, as they lost their first two games by large margins. The majority of the team still has hope in terms of a comeback considering they have made improvements as the last two games have been close and competitive.

The Vikings have six games left on their schedule and plan on an undefeated run to finish the season off.

Coach Bradley “Big Cat” Sullivan, the offensive coordinator for the Vikings, is optimistic as he has two of the nations best players on his offense. Despite having a struggling offense, Sullivan has ranked quarterback, Nik Rango, and the nation’s leading receiver, John Daly, under his belt.

While he doesn’t get hung up on his players’ rankings, he hopes that they can help the Vikings overcome the list of hurdles that have set them back this season.

They were behind from the start, as many players did not return due to a multitude of personal circumstances, inclusive of injury.

Additionally, the team had a short amount of time to become acquainted with the new playbook; the previous playbook was scrapped because of personnel issues.

Sullivan also emphasizes that he has a great group of core players that don’t quit. “We have no quitters on this team.”, Sullivan also said. “Regardless of the score, they never stop fighting”. He goes on to point out the team’s collective shortcomings.

“Little things kill us. 65 percent of our drives are stalled by penalties.” Coach Sullivan said.

He has high hopes of making necessary improvements to get the Hudson Valley in the winning column. Sullivan believes that by cleaning up penalties and tweaking the offense, the Vikings can win the next six games.

Starting quarterback, Nik Rango, is on the same page as his offensive coordinator. He trusts that cleaning up little mistakes will put the team over the top.

Being a ranked player makes no difference to Rango. “Rankings don’t matter if you can’t help your team win.”, said Nik Rango. He also stressed the importance of self improvement. “I need to become a better leader on the field.” “I need to be able to keep the guys going.” he said.

Nik also agrees with Sullivan’s commendations of the team’s perseverance: “I’d take every guy in my locker room over anyone in the country.”

Jonathan Underwood, starting outside linebacker for the Vikings, feels that the team has a shot at winning out the season. He believes the stout defense gives Hudson Valley a good chance of winning games.

In Underwood’s analysis, letting up big plays is what kills momentum. If the Vikings can eliminate that, the team can be successful. With offensive adjustments and improvements on the way and a strong defense, the Hudson Valley Vikings look to turn the season around in the last six contest. Optimism is everywhere and they hope to build on it.
