Jordan Thomas, an accounting major from Kingston High School, has held a very crucial role this season for the Hudson Valley Community College women’s bowling team.

Thomas has helped the Vikings succeed this season, getting the women’s team to the NJCAA Region 3 Regional Tournament. Her personal success has also given her the opportunity to perform at the NJCAA Nationals in Buffalo, New York.

Thomas has received multiple NJCAA Region 3 Female Athlete of the Week awards from her performances during the season, as well as winning the All-Around Title at the Blue and Orange Invitational in January.

Thomas also won the Individual Women’s Title at the Mohawk Valley Invitational. Her pin total was 1,166. She improved throughout the season, getting her team to a 5th place finish in the Regional Tournament in February.

“I’ve gotten multiple comments that I have had a really good approach, and that pushed me to strive to do better because I knew other people believed I could,” Thomas said. “I’m constantly wanting to not only get a better [single] game, but to mainly achieve a higher series.”

Thomas started bowling when she was about five years old.

“My parents bowled growing up and when I was young they would bowl in leagues and I would go watch them when I got the chance,” she said.

Thomas has also received a great deal of motivation from her male teammates. Her male counterparts have pushed her during the season to get her to Nationals.

“The guys I’ve bowled with have motivated me a lot, “she said. “Knowing they’re better and then beating them is a great feeling and that’s what I strive for.”

Jordan has been bowling for a long time and it shows based on her recent accomplishments.
