“Spider-Man: Miles Morales” is the new addition to Sony’s “Spider-Man”, released in 2018, and it shows the story of Miles Morales rising to become the next friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. As Peter Parker goes on vacation with his girlfriend, Mary Jane, Miles has been given the task to protect the people of New York and earn their respect. As he does that, he faces off against the corporation, Roxxan, led by Simon Krueger, along with other enemies, to prevent New York from being divided, or worse.

Miles Morales has risen to fame ever since the Oscar-winning animated film, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse”, was released in theaters in December 2018, and his character has still proven to be completely relatable and heroic as he was before. Insomniac Games has created a great addition to the PS4’s “Spider-Man” (2018) to focus on Miles Morales learning what it takes to become Spider-Man. As the game begins, it’s an action-packed, exciting and completely time-consuming game from start to finish. Each story mission is fast-paced and energetic, it felt like watching a sequel to a Spider-Man film, just like the last game. The story of the game has the right amount of potential to be a spinoff film, as much as the previous game had the potential to become an original Spider-Man film.

The controls of how to make Miles fight are as simple, yet complex, as were the controls of the last game. Except for the way Miles interacts with web-swinging and hand-to-hand combat, he acted like a beginner at becoming a hero, but he’s good at using his abilities at the same time. His interactions with the villains he fights and the civilians he greets also give Miles more character and remind fans that he is still a kid who has much to learn but already has the potential to be the next Spider-Man.

The next greatest addition to the game is Miles’ abilities. He can turn invisible, he has electricity manipulation, also known as Venom powers, and with the assistance of a vigilante

a character named “The Prowler”, Miles has access to neat gadgets. Like the first game, players can have access to many gadgets and suits, including the suit from the Spider-verse film. Plus, when players don’t have much to do other than playing the story missions, players can solve crime alerts, collect objects like easter eggs, time capsules, take pictures and invade hideouts. Plus, the soundtrack gives an original and upbeat score that matches the tone of Miles Morales. The score is similar to the soundtrack from 2018’s Spider-Man game, but with beats. Especially with original songs like Jaden Smith’s single “I’m Ready”.

The characters are also in-depth with the game’s story. Like Ganke Lee, who is Spider-Man’s partner assists Spider-Man with crime alerts, his status in New York City and

his investigations on the enemies he goes against. Miles and Ganke’s fellowship carries the story as much as it carries the entire game in the best way. Along with the villains’ Miles has to face gives the protagonists bigger risks and more serious moments that can give players enough serious moments to remain hooked too.
