Midterms right around the corner and many students are beginning to feel the pressure of trying to get their grades up.

“I stopped taking notes in class. You’re more focused on what you’re writing which takes away from what you’re actually learning and focusing on what the teacher says,” Jayson Leddo, a criminal justice major said. He still tries to get note for his classes though.

He said that he just has to tell himself that he his going to figure all of his work out.

“When you go back to your notes afterwards and everything will clicks like clockwork,” Leddo said.

“There’s so much material college wise [so to] go home and look over the notes from that day, reread them and rethink through them keeps it fresh in your mind,” said associate professor, Keith Gunner, who runs the Science Study Center.

“I go back to my notes to study…I listen [in lecture] and take notes of what I believe is important since the Power Point is on blackboard,” said Allaina Escano, a biological science student.

Uriah Williams, an individual studies major, said that she just spends all of her time at school studying when she isn’t working.

Gunner went on to say that good study habits are all about how much time you put in. “If you are looking for an easy way out, you will not be a good student,” he said.

Studying in a productive environment such as the LAC, Science Center or the library can maybe even provide you with the boost you are looking for. Tutors are readily available to help students wrap their heads around whatever topic they are struggling with.

It can feel like psychic work to trying to know what specific details you need to understand for your exams, but applying yourself
