The Vikings women’s basketball team put together a convincing win in their first competition since late February 2020 with a 66-33 home win over Orange County CC on November 4th, 2021. Kathryn Stackrow finished with a game-high 25 points and added four steals in just 28 minutes of action. The Vikings sank 57% of their free throws, 46% of their field goals, but only 1 of their 7 three-point attempts.
The Vikings men’s team put on a good show in the second game of the OCCC-HVCC double feature but fell short of a home-opening “W.” The men’s team had four members reach double-digit scoring and were led by sophomore Luke Bourgault. Bourgault finished with a team-high 19 points on 5-of-12 shooting, including a game-high three 3-point field goals. The men’s game was a hard-fought match that featured 76 free throws resulting from 58 total fouls. The Vikings shot 29-of-39 from the free-throw line. Freshman guard Aristide Gateretse finished with 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor, and Eriks Veidemanis added 15 points in 31 minutes on 5-of-9 shooting, including 3-of-5 from behind the three-point arc.
