A workshop called “Visualize Your Plan for Success” was held on Apr. 19, hosted by the Women’s Fund of the Capital Region (WFCR).

The event was organized by Nancy Szakats, Event Organizer for WFCR, and presented by Deb Best, from Deb Best Practices.

The event kicked off with an overview and ice breaker activity, where participants stood up, introduced their names, and shared something about themselves that most people would not know.

“I want you to think about being the CEO of your life, because I think that people are happiest when they’re doing something that they love to do,” said Best.

There was an activity on defining personal views, where participants chose from a list of common values and were asked to choose the two most important to them.

The goal of this activity in a strategic planning process is to have common values within a team building, if values are not related or spread out, there is some work that needs to be done.

Another exercise consisted of writing down or drawing ambitions and visions of what the participants wanted to achieve in the future.

Participants shared their ideas and aspirations with the group and had a group discussion followed by supporting words and planning strategies by the presenter.

“I believe in the concept of borrowing the will from the group. I’ve had groups that are quieter, but I think the way that I’ve structured the workshop is that I let them run,” said Best.

“I really love igniting success in others…I think that a lot of the time, we try to be somebody else, or we try to be somebody that our families tell us to be, we almost stop listening to what’s going on inside, and express it,” said Best.

“I thought the workshop was very successful. I think that everybody was really engaged,” said Szakats.

“The workshop was very inspiring, intriguing, and interesting. I would definitely bring more friends next time,” said Kasey Lewis, Human Services student.
